First Aid at Work Certificate

DESCRIPTION
[blockquote]It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers should provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees.

If the assessment of First Aid needs highlights the need for qualified First Aiders, then this course will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel.

This comprehensive three-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. This course will give the participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.[/blockquote]

DURATION
[blockquote]A minimum of 18 hours spread over at three days. Ideally, the course should be run over three consecutive days, but
we have the flexibility to accommodate your specific needs if you so desire.[/blockquote]

SYLLABUS
[blockquote]A range of subjects is covered including:
• Legalities, responsibilities and reporting • Assessment of the situation
• Dealing with an unresponsive casualty • Fractures and spinal injuries
• Shock (including Anaphylaxis) • Control of bleeding
• Resuscitation • Bandaging • Heart attacks • Choking
• Head injuries • Shock • Eye injuries • Poisoning
• Chest injuries • Strains • Sprains • Burns
• Asthma • Diabetes • Epilepsy

If your organisation has a specific area of training that is not included, or you require a more in-depth session, then we can accommodate you by providing additional training in that particular subject.[/blockquote]

CERTIFICATION
[blockquote]Subject to assessment, all participants will be issued with a First Aid at Work certificate (and wallet card) approved by the Health and Safety Executive. This qualification is valid for three years which can be renewed by attending a suitable two day requalification course. The HSE strongly recommends that all First Aiders attend an annual refresher training of a minimum three hours duration.[/blockquote]

NUMBERS
[blockquote]A maximum of 8 students can be accommodated on this course.[/blockquote]

ASSESSMENT
[blockquote]All students will be assessed by independent assessors on their ability to act safely, promptly and effectively for a casualty who is unresponsive, requires CPR and who is wounded and bleeding.[/blockquote]

LOCATION
[blockquote]We are able to deliver this course at our own training centre or on the client as long as suitable training area can be provided[/blockquote]

Overview

The syllabus is closely based on BS8454 Code of practice for the delivery of training and education for work at height and rescue and the objective is for the cascade trainer to be able to deliver their own course based on all or some of the modules detailed
